"Best Dressed" reaches another milestone
A stellar 2025 for bagpiper and purveyor of patisserie perfection, Maeibh McNamamara, continues to get better and better.
In a wide-ranging interview with Dooagh Pipe Band's favourite manufacturer of baked goods, DPB on the Ball discusses cakes, cycling, and of course that victory at the 2025 Dooagh Pipe Band Awards.
DPB on the Ball: It's been a good year so far for Achill Pipe Bands, in particular the Dooagh Pipe Band of course. As one of the senior members of the band, just how pleased are you to see the young talent coming through?
Maeibh McNamamarara: Excuse me, what do you mean, "senior"?
DBP: What I mean to say, it's always good to see young talent nurtured, and brought through the ranks to achieve their full potential. And as one of the senior members of the band, you will of course have played a part in that.
...
DPB: Maeibh? Erm, Maeibh?
...
DPB: Well, I'm not sure what happened there, but that concludes our interview it seems.
DPB: We had this surprise birthday cake lined up for Maeibh, and I wouldn't mind but I spent ages lighting all the candles.
DPB: Maybe she found out that we got the cake from a competitor. But we could hardly get her to make her own birthday cake, could we? It wouldn't be a surprise then, would it.
...
DPB: There were a lot of candles.
Additional reporting from DPB Insider:
Happy 40th Birthday, Maeibh.
