"Solid" performance augers well for 2026

In [insert weather conditions here], the Dooagh Pipe Band took to the road yesterday for the now traditional Easter Sunday Parade through the villages of Keel, Pollagh, and Dooagh. Meeting at 13:30 for a 14:00 start on Sunday 20th April at Achill Cliff House in Keel, known affectionately as JJ's after former piper and Drum Major - and possible owner of the hotel and restaurant - J.J. McNamara (quote discount code BG001 at time of booking (terms and conditions apply)), the band marched through the three villages to finish up in Dooagh at Gielty's Bar and Restaurant (quote discount code BG002 at time of booking (terms and conditions apply)) in a time of 1hr and 30mins – close to last season's best. Dooagh Pipe Band Chairman, David McNamara, pronounced himself satisfied with proceedings, saying: "This was a good, solid performance. We have a tendency at times to accelerate too quickly out of the blocks, which can prove detrimental in the latter stages of the march. I applaud our Pipe Major, Conall McNamara, for managing the pace so well. To deliver that result so early in the St. Patrick's Day 2026 season proves to me that we are on the right trajectory."
